Hello Rayford, My name is Cozia Chapman we grew up together. I lived on 3720 Ruckles Street, you lived on Central we shared the same alley way and you lived right across/diagnally across the alley from the Lacey's and the Chapman's. My brothers were David, Willie me Cozia my sister Maria (Antonette) and Alphonso. We used to watch you play your yellow drum set in your basement and we used to come and watch you play/practice. You also tought Cal Ford who live on Central on the corner how to play the drums. I just wanted to touch based with you because you have always been an inspiration to me. I remember you used to come down in our basement across the alley on Ruckle Street and watch David play his drum set and you got your start or interest in playing the drums. David is the same age as you born in 7 August attended Shortridge High school as well as Willie who passed away in August 1996. David lives in Kentuckey now. I remember your brothers one was DJ for radio station WTLC Thamos J Griffin the 3rd, Reggie, and I forget your sisters name. Thamas was very good friends with Keith Fergerson known as "KITO" and his sister Neesy who lived on Central a few house from you.

Anyway Rayford, I just wanted to let you know, you still have good old friends in your corner. May God continue to bless you and keep you safe and healthy.

Mr. Griffin,
From a p/t pro to you the full time virtuoso. Excellent solo at the Riverside Jazz Festival,CA in 2009.I performed earlier that day on stage II. I enjoyed the break for the crowd and the pocket work, snare drum ,HH and BD time. I guess I'll practice tonight when I get home from work !
Your CD is in my collection great work sir.

Hey Rayford,You truly are the baddddest drummer I've heard and seen,I've followed you since the Ponty days, also saw you with Rick Braun,I told my friends at that show the drummer sounded like the drummer that use to play with Ponty and yes indeed it was you,one more thing,I really appreciate your playing and you are truly the hardest working man onstage, lot of folks don't realize that but you are very busy up there.Keep up the good work,oh love the new CD and look forward to seeing you in Detroit, take care and God Bless You

Watched Rayford play at the Smooth Jazz Cruise 2010 and he's amazingly talented and humble at the same time. I love his "Rebirth of the Cool" album, it has mass appeal. I'm looking forward to his next album!
Good Luck Rayford!
